Kabul Medical University is a learning center powered by Ministry of Higher Education which holds about 2700 students from PCB to clerkship in four of its divisions that include Curative, Pediatrics, Stomatology, and the newly established Nursing faculty.
KMU owns about 215 professional lecturers in Basic Science, Para-clinic, and clinic departments; along with teaching hospitals called Maiwand, and Ali Abad.
Since its establishment in the presence of King Muhammad Nadir Shaah back in 1940, it is deemed to be the mother of all other medical institutions in the country.
The time after the Afghan interim government (which dates back to 2001) and until now, KMU is seeking to improve both in educational system and physical structure.
Physical constructions are in abundant success and there still remains work to be done as well. Accomplishments such as building renovations, cafeteria, auditorium, parking lots, library, laboratories, lecture classrooms, student halls have taken place according to the plan.
KMU is planning to structure a new curriculum, under which lessons will be performed in English by the attainable technology of computers connected to projectors. Students are also expected to use the internet whenever budgets are fulfilled.
Through the establishment of PBL system supported by JICA and the University of Tokyo, KMU has signed contracts with universities across the world including, NCL college in London, University of Leon, Tokyo, and Nebraska.
As an organization we tend to set the standards of an internationally recognized system in spite of difficulties and hard to reach resources in order to be fully accepted by the international community. We are thoroughly committed to accomplish objectives in 10 years from now which would lead to the mission achievement.
Sincerely,
Dr. Obaidullah Obaid
