Eye Teaching Hospital of Kabul University of Medical Sciences

The Eye Teaching hospital is a specialized training and therapeutic center  which provides training for students at Kabul University of Medical Sciences at the levels of students, resident doctors, eye doctors, eye specialists  and work 24 hours for  those in need in order to provide eye care services for them. This hospital based on a memorandum of understanding between the Minister of Higher Education, the head of the Kabul Medical University and the International Charitable Foundation (IAM) on the date (2000-2001) was signed for 10-years which has 30 beds, founded in the framework of the Ministry of Higher Education and named Eye Teaching Hospital (University Eye Hospital).

In 1382, the Eye Teaching Hospital was moved from the Medical Poly Clinic’s building of university to the Kabul Medical University’s Publication Building, which was ruined during the war and was restored and reconstructed by the IAM organization, and worked till July 18, 2012 in this place.  In 1391, the foundation of The Eye Teaching Hospital was purposed by 31 staff of the Kabul University of Medical Sciences and its approval was gained through the reform process.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Higher Education, Kabul University of Medical Sciences and the MMRCI organization in January 2013 and again the eye care clinic started to work. In February, 2014, the Eye Teaching Hospital has relocated to the old building of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Shahrara with all its equipment and started working which is working till now. In 2013/1/8, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Higher Education, the head of the Kabul University of Medical Sciences and Fred Hollows Foundation which is active till now.

The EUH is providing training and specialty services for students, house workers & ophthalmologists with high standards, academic research implementation, delivering a better health service for the citizens as well as medical services development, support from schemes and capacity building of staff with modern and development tech, are the hospital mission.
