About Maiwand Teaching Hospital

Maiwand Hospital has begun to implement healthcare services to the citizens in the capital of Kabul seven decades ago. First, named Qale-e-Baqer Khan Hospital, later called Mastorat, and at the time of Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, changed to Maiwand Hospital. Different stages of development, fluctuates and transformations were led by social, political, disorders and civil wars in the country.

Departments:

Maiwand Teaching Hospital has five departments, two general directorates and four sub-directorate, which are described below:

ENT Department: includes head of department, specialists and doctors. This department totally has 30 members, (5 faculties, 4 specialists and 21 doctors) which all are busy providing healthcare and teaching services for the patients and KMU students.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dermatology Department: includes head of department, specialists and doctors. Totally, this department has 18 members, (5 faculties, 4 specialists and 9 doctors) which all are busy providing healthcare and teaching services for the patients and KMU students.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pediatric Department: includes head of department, specialists and doctors. Totally this department has 23 members, (10 faculties, 5 specialists and 8 doctors) which all are busy conducting healthcare and teaching services for the patients and KMU students.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Plastic Surgery Dept. includes head of department, specialists and doctors. Totally, this department has 7 members (1 faculty, 2 specialists and 4 doctors) which all are busy providing healthcare and teaching services for the patients and KMU students.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pediatric Surgery Dept. includes head of department, specialists and curative doctors. This department has 7 members, (3 faculties, 2 experts and 2 doctors) which all are busy implementing healthcare and teaching services for the patients and KMU students

Hospital policy

The hospital has been working in three parts:

1. Preparing the appropriate conditions for practical courses of KMU students.

2. The provision of medical supplies and spices needed for academic research of faculties.

3. Providing health efficient services and academic

Conferences:

Conferences are presented by faculties, doctors, and also those conferences related to the nursing department, regularly and continually applying.

Library 

Library of the hospital, since the establishment of the hospital has been performing its activities, but unfortunately, partly destroyed during the civil wars, although, it could keep its activities by efforts of hospital leadership board. Here are different types of books available; surgical, internal, ENT, etc.
